The Latest On Your Daily Greyhound Tips Service |

4 November 2007
|
Welcome to the first newsletter from greyhoundpredictions.co.uk. For almost a year now we have provided free greyhound racing tips practically every day. We (that's Steve, Tom and Lance) started greyhoundpredictions as a challenge to find an automated system of form analysis. We use our predictions as a starting point for selecting the races and dogs worth further investigation. So far there has been a mix of promising successes and disheartening set-backs but with the continuous improvement the predictions get more and more reliable.
Service Fully Restored
Our prediction machine (alternatively dubbed Nostradamus or Mystic
Meg) suffered a fatal crash on the 12th October meaning no
predictions were available for over a week. We have now completely restored the
system from backups
thankfully without loss of data and are back up and running. Thanks to
everyone who contacted us - we will make sure that a message is posted
promptly on the home page in the event of any issues.
For those with a technical inclination we took the opportunity to migrate to a new system running Ubuntu from the old Red Hat platform.
Latest Update
We do not just use one system for our tips but a number of different models for each venue. The best is chosen over the course of a week and is used on the site - the worst are thrown away.
The latest system (as enthusiastically promoted by Lance) is to produce the standard statistics from the last 5 races but make them apply to all venues. For example, in the current systems we would compare the fastest time each dog has ran but this could not be used on different courses with differing average times. Lance uses percentages to compare the times. His system is being trialled for Walthamstow, Sheffield and Perry Barr - watch this space!
Relaunch of the Forum
Due to the continued posting of obscene (but eye-opening) material on the forum we had to lock it down. The forum has now been updated (fingers crossed) to make it not worth the spammers' attention. All posts and member information has been removed so please re-register using the authorisation code "greytips1810".
There is now a section for suggestions on improvements to the site or tips where you can let us know any requests or comments you have.
Dont forget - our predictions are provided as a free service greyhoundpredictions.co.uk are in no way responsible for any loss incurred arising from anything posted on the site.
Thats all for now. Be lucky!
