The Latest On Your Daily Greyhound Tips Service |

Dear Greyhound Racing Fan,
Welcome to the fourth GreyhoundPredictions.co.uk newsletter. We are now
back on the web having resolved the issue with our hosting provider it
would appear they expect regular payment! In this now delayed edition we
describe how the predictions could be used and how we put it into practise
at the Oxford stadium.
Easter betting
We particularly regret our loss of service during the Easter holidays with
many greyhound racing fans taking advantage of the relaxation of gambling
laws in the UK (Gambling Act 2005) allowing betting shops to open on Good
Friday and every day except Christmas Day. However, we were spared any
moralising by our site being unavailable.
How to use the tips
We are regularly asked how the predictions should be used. The best
strategy we found so far (as employed at the Oxford stadium - see below)
was to use the predictions as a basis to select two dogs for a reverse
forecast checking the previous results of each race. Sites such as
www.thedogs.co.uk allow searches by greyhound name which is great for
checking a dog form. For newcomers a forecast is a bet on which dog will
finish first and which second. A reverse forecast picks the dogs finishing
first and second in either order this is actually two separate bets.
Things to look out for has a bitches season been affecting her last few
races? Has a dogs previous good results been at this grade / course/
distance? Is this an old dog that is slowing or a young dog that is
improving? Is this a beneficial trap draw? Look at the running style of
the dogs in the next door traps - is your dog likely to get stuck in a
crowd? If you have any questions about these or suggestions for additional
criteria leave a message on the forum

Our database of past races is growing daily so let us know if you think any
particular statistics generated.
Gone to the dogs
On 13th March we put our predictions to the test at the Oxford Greyhound
Stadium. Out of the full card of 12 the system offered tips for just two
races number 8 at 21:20 and 9 at 21:35 (for a race to be included the
grade has to OR, A1-A4, M1, S1 or B1 and at least 7 previous races have to
be found for each dog).
For the other races we chose a method of staring intently at the racecard
waiting for a obvious winner to present itself. This unfortunately yielded
little success. Finally the 21:20 race came round the
GreyhoundPredictions.co.uk prediction looked like this
21:20
Name Trap Age(mnths) Rating
Black Taxi 2 44 86.3
Positive Step 3 28 74.1
Crosskeys Razor 1 29 64.5
Tonetta Balboa 4 26 62
Slug City 5 33 55.2
Isle Of Tara 6 24 15.5
I backed the 1 dog to win after seeing he was the by far the favourite
(note the GP system is completely independent of the odds). He finished
4th after a slow start and a big shunt at the far side of the track.

1 Tonetta Balboa 4 9/4 3.77 26.83 (QAw, Mid, LedRnIn)
2 Crosskeys Razor 1 7/2 3.80 26.84 (SH)(EP, Rls, LedToRnIn)

6 Slug City 5 6/1 3.82 27.42 (3) (SAw, EP, W, Crd1)
Undeterred we soldiered on to the 21:35 race. The prediction came out as
...

Drink Up Zorro 3 22 96.7
Blonde Joey 4 48 91.3
Spears Tarquynn 2 37 74.2
Vigorous Zico 6 36 48.6
Arthurs Joy 5 42 46.5
Chill Out Lad 1 33 34
As we always advise our visitors we had checked the form by hand prior to
the race. We discounted the 4 dog - Blonde Joey (predicted 2nd) due to
collisions in his last few races. However due to a rush of blood when
placing my bet I stuck true to the GP prediction and went for a reverse
forecast on Drink Up Zorro and Blonde Joey whereas my cohort wisely stuck
with our earlier analysis and went for traps 2 and 3. The result ...

... just goes to show that you should always stick with your first thought.
Radio 4 predictions
Finally, there was another first on Good Friday when Radio 4 offered tips
on the days greyhound racing at Hove as the horses had the day off.
Jonathon Hobbs from the Racing Post tipped Droopys Wells in the 13:10 and
Perrys Tango in the 13:26. True to form for Radio 4 tips Droopys Wells
finished 5th and Perrys Tango came in at second.
That's for all now and thanks for the feedback always grateful received.
